Welcome to Southlands Methodist Church

We are pleased to say, we are now fully up and running. We have systems in place to ensure everyone’s safety, and are welcoming back many groups and activities.

South Bank Studios is also open, with artists in residence and we have begun to offer workshops. Many artists are also offering online workshops, so do check out the South Bank Studios website for details and links to the artist’s own pages.

Worship

Our Sunday 10:30am worship remains on Zoom, partly because of the practicality, and increased safety of doing so, but also because it allows us to offer a different style of worship, where we walk through the bible together interatively. This is also now being streamed into the church to watch live. We are joined in this by Acomb & Holgate Methodist church and many friends from around the UK.

We also make available a set of video reflections each week, on YouTube and Facebook, which you can watch at your convenience (scroll down for more info). We do, however, also meet physically each Wednesday at 2:30pm for a simple prayer service (when lockdowns allow), which is a smaller gathering.

To join in our Virtual Worship, do join us for ‘Zoom on Sunday’ (Virtual worship) – click on the image above for more information, or use the details below to join us online.

Unfortunately we have been unable to provide recordings of our services on the 11th and 18th of July, but below is If our service from the 4th July led by Mark Bevan.

(you’ll find more Sunday’s on our You Tube channel or Facebook page). We also broke out for some family worship this week, and are continuing to offer this every two weeks.

Mark made references to a webinar on Domestic abuse in his service this week, you can watch this below

New Opportunities for Prayer

A new opportunity is to join us for a short 10-15 minute Morning 7:30am or Evening 9:00pm prayer time. You can also physically join at Acomb 9:30am on Sundays, and at Southlands at 2:30pm Wednesdays.

Below is the circuit’s latest recorded service. If you would like to watch it live, or afterwards, then click subscribe and you will be sent a link each week. Feel free to join us, after our Zoom, for coffee. If you’d like to watch both, I will try and post them on this email each week.

Alternatively, if you’d like to worship with a contemporary service, then please find a link to our sister church, at Copmanthorpe. This service is ftheir last recorded service.

Finally, our new family worship time ‘ONE Family’ met once again in July. If you missed it, and would like to engage, watch the enclosed video, and hopefully join us next time 6-7pm for the next live zoom!

Southlands Methodist is an unusual Methodist church, in that as well as being a place of worship, and a variety of community activities, we are home to South Bank Studios (a community of artist in residence), partner with Seek Art School, and also with Planet Food Cafe, a waste food ‘Pay as you can’ cafe on Thursdays.

We’d love to welcome you in person, but if you would like to find out more about us, or our partners first, or are simply looking for more information on our events and activities, then select from the menus above to find out more about us, or see some of our key events below.
