Podcast – Featuring Southlands Community Garden

Walk The Talk York Podcast

Produced by York Methodist Circuit, our host Rory Dalgliesh will be chatting to local people involved in local projects addressing important issues and helping those in need. We’ll be discussing how faith plays a part and letting you know how you can get involved, support or help in a practical way.

Available on Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, Spotify and https://walk-the-talk-york.simplecast.com/

Today we are speaking to Katie, a volunteer at Southlands Community Garden in York. The notion of community has been around forever but many of us have become isolated from each other due to rapid changes of the modern world. Creating community is a vital element to our wellbeing and happiness and “togetherness”, to belong to something has a profound impact on our lives. In this episode, we learn how Southlands Church in York turned a derelict building and spare land around the church into a thriving green space and a place for any member of the local community to get involved with and enjoy.

Southlands Methodist is an unusual Methodist church, in that as well as being a place of worship, and a variety of community activities, we are home to South Bank Studios (a community of artist in residence), partner with Seek Art School, and also with Planet Food Cafe, a waste food ‘Pay as you can’ cafe on Thursdays.

We’d love to welcome you in person, but if you would like to find out more about us, or our partners first, or are simply looking for more information on our events and activities, then select from the menus above to find out more about us, or see some of our key events below.
