Before lockdown, every Saturday morning at 9am up to around 40 people associated with Haxby & Wigginton Methodist church could be found parkrunning, usually at one of the local York parkruns, but sometimes further afield. After more than a year without our weekly 5k fix, parkrun returns in England on Saturday 24th July and we’d love people to come and join us. You don’t have to run, you can run, jog or walk, you can bring your dog (on a short lead), you can push children in buggies, you never finish last because there’s always a tailwalker, and you can volunteer to be a marshal or take on some other role (which doesn’t involve completing 5k at all!). There’s a great community feeling and people are very supportive. Afterwards we usually get coffee and/or breakfast and have chance to catch up with one another. Whilst we usually do parkruns in the York area, we thought it might be an idea for Kairos members to meet up at different parkrun venues once every couple of months – there are parkruns in Hull, Harrogate, Skipton, Northallerton, Knaresborough, Selby….. If you’re interested in coming along, or just finding out more, feel free to get in touch. Steph Cooper
